Corvette Owners Can Empathize

Owning a Corvette means you are rich, going through a midlife crisis, overcompensating for something, or driving daddy's car. At least, that is what owners are constantly being told. You are probably too familiar with these comments if you own one. Take a look at common things said to CorvetteForum.com members and their funny responses.

Is Your Car [Fill in the Blank]?

Aw, the mistaken identity comment. It is common for bystanders to mistake your Corvette for something other than a Corvette. I am sure you have gotten plenty of "Oh, is that a Camaro?" or "Is that the new Mustang?" Seeing how these cars are rivals, one being its sibling, it is understandable why a Corvette owner would get upset from such an obvious mistake.

Going Through a Midlife Crisis, Are We?

You own a Corvette, so that automatically means you are going through a midlife crisis. It also labels you a senior citizen. Yes, most Corvette buyers are over the age of 50, but it would be pretty judgmental to say they are going through a midlife crisis. Also, in recent years Chevrolet has been advertising its models to target a more younger audience. That is a new generation people are mislabeling as old. Not to mention current owners who are under the age of 50.

You Must Not Have Kids

Driving around a Corvette equals to no kids. People might say this because either (1) you can afford a Corvette or (2) because you don't have a back seat. Forum members with children will say that having kids and owning a Corvette can be done. If the child needs to take a ride in the Corvette, then what they would do is set the seat as far back (away from the air bag) and add the child's car seat.

I Want Your Job

Corvette owners in their 20's are thought of as spoiled rich kids taking their daddy's car for a joy ride. All other Corvette owners are envied for the job they hold to be able to afford that nice Corvette. Corvette owners are assumed to be rich or doing well in their careers. This really comes down to what one considers to be rich. According to Autos in Transit, 55 percent of Americans make below $50K and can still afford buying a Corvette.

I Guess You Stop at Every Gas Station

The Corvette can go upwards of 200 MPH, because of that, many people assume that owners go fast and so need to stop by the gas station often. A Corvette can be a daily driver if keeping it at normal speeds. The Corvette goes 29 MPG (highway) and many drivers will tell you they can go between 28 to 30. A Ferrari F12 and a Lamborghini Aventador Roadster can go up to 16/highway, so that is something to think about.

I Can Take You

The most common thing felt when Mustangs (or other cars who think they can compete) think they can win against your Corvette. As forum member 2000lambovette will show, that is not so.
