Back in the days of the C5, the late John Lingenfelter was able to get a Corvette up to 225 mph with “only” 650 horsepower. By the time the C6 ZR1 rolled into production, it was able to achieve “only” 205 mph with 638 horsepower. With cars that are pumping out similar power figures, why the top speed discrepancy?
This week’s Corvette of the Week comes from “FinalJenemba” whose story has made me appreciate the Corvette even more, which is huge for me because I thought I already had my foot planted pretty firmly on the Corvette appreciation throttle.
If the Acura NSX does ever make it to production, it will be built in Ohio — the same state where it is being engineered. In many ways the NSX will be America’s next sports car, and a welcome Corvette competitor … if it ever sees the light of day.
This C6 Z06 is so magnificent, it stands with the sky and the clouds as though it were among equals … and essentially, it is.
