Chevrolet is dropping the manual transmission from the Corvette’s option sheet for the 2017 model year due to dwindling sales and industry trends.

As much as it looks like this Corvette was crafted for cops, RPO 687 actually made the C1 more track-capable. This was the precursor to RPO Z06 that would be offered in the C2 the following model year. Still, this triple-black car looks ready to chase bad guys rather than a first-place finish.
According to Motor Trend’s recent Corvette Z06 retest at Willow Springs International Raceway’s “Big Track”, the Z06 (when equipped with a manual transmission) is faster than the Nissan GT-R NISMO.
Corvette Forum members have grabbed their pitchforks over this C7 Z06 with Lambo-style doors. But are vertical doors on a C7 really that bad? I mean, they are practical.
