Bound for Glory: Corvette Race Cars at the Petersen

Creature comforts are all well and good. But I don’t think cars look cooler than when they’ve been stripped down and prepped for racing?and there were some fantastic examples of weapons-grade Corvettes on hand at the Petersen last weekend.

That said, I realize that the C6RS isn’t a race car?the cabin is as detailed and gorgeous as an Aston Martin. But it’s the closest thing you can get to the C6R raced in the American Le Mans Series, and at 750hp, it’s way more powerful. There was also a 1969 L-88 that won 46 out of 49 starts and was the first car to break 200mph at Daytona, a rare Vette-powered Lola and couple more pieces of vintage racing hardware that all looked chomping at the bit to get on the grid. Enjoy the photos!
