Choice C3 Corvettes Are Becoming Rarities

The Time to Act Is Now. Nice C3 Corvettes Seem to Be as Rare as Hen’s Teeth!

If you spend any time looking for a nice C3 Corvette, you’ll soon find out they’re running a bit thin. Especially rarities, like an early chrome bumper roadster. A recent Corvette Forum thread posits that it’s possible most of the really nice C3s are gone. And finding a minty driver may be nigh impossible.

As such, we are forced to assume that the majority of C3 Corvettes selling these days are going to “forever homes,” since the people who want them are really particular about which car they desire. At least, that’s what we hope.

The thread’s originator, PeterC3, isn’t a barn find kind of guy. He wants to buy a car that’s as nice as you’ll find. He suspects that the number of C3s that are actually “worth bothering with” is actually quite low. Likely significantly lower than the number that are for sale.

We all know about the issues inherent with C3s, so how many cars out there are actually issue free? The fact of the matter is that early Corvette enthusiasts continue to get older, and the young guns in the Corvette game are more interested in the cheap speed of a C5 Z06.

If you want to buy a C3 Corvette, we recommend that you get your finances in order and make it happen sooner, rather than later. It’s been too long since we’ve seen any manner of C3 on the street actually being driven. And we can’t recall a time when we’ve ever seen one at an autocross or track day. It’s a damn shame, too, because the wonderful Coke-bottle shape of this car deserves to be seen by everyone. Go buy one, and make sure you drive it.
