C5 Corvette Epically Fails
If there is one thing I’ve learned as an auto journalist, 90% of the population wouldn’t know what to do with or how to handle anything over 300 horsepower, and that includes many of my peers. And me, sometimes. However, we usually like to confine our ridiculous bursts of speed to tracks or closed-down sections of road. Why, because we don’t want to end up on someone’s cell phone looking like a complete and utter tool, as this next video will demonstrate.
Some of you may have seen this video on our sister site LS1tech, but for those who haven’t, your impression of what is about to happen is exactly right. The video was shot at a Dallas area Cars and Coffee. It portrays an older Corvette driver attempting to be “hip” and slide his C5 Corvette like “all those hoonigan drifters.”
Things don’t exactly go as planned. When he initiates the powerslide, it seems the driver gets frightened by the power and immediately jumps off the gas. This snaps the car back to having traction, and he can’t control it, which causes him to hit the curb, smashing the front end, deploying the airbags, and sending his glasses flying.
Hopefully he’s ok, but seriously people, if you don’t know what you’re doing, or you can’t handle higher horsepower, don’t try stunt driving. It’s just going to end up badly for all involved.
