C6 Z06: Best Used Performance Car on the Planet?

By -

Corvette Z06 Carbon
505 hp and 470 lb.ft of torque, 0-60 mph in just over 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 198 mph. Those are some quick specs on a stock C6 Corvette Z06. In unmodified condition they’re bringing between $35k-$55k on the used car market and they are, without a doubt, one of the best deals going. I’ve never looked at the Z06 (a C5 or C6) as an investment car, but moreover, it’s the car you buy if you really like to drive. On the street these machines offer great performance, but  it’s on the racetrack where they truly shine.

The LS7 revs to the moon and offers usable power and torque throughout the entire rev range. The 6-pot Brembo brakes haul you to a stop in no time, and the T-56 transmission always offers smooth and precise shifts as long as you don’t gorilla shift the damn thing. As for the handling, it’s simply sublime for a car that was developed 10 years ago. This is the car that made Porsche up their game, that dominates track days around the country, and put the Corvette back on the map as a true performance contender. Personally, I’m looking for a Z06 with the Carbon Fiber Package to park in my garage, but hey, that’s just me.
