C7 Corvette Hangs On Against 600-Plus-Horsepower Tesla

If this race would have turned out any differently for the C7, there’s no way I would have posted this story on Corvette Forum.

There is absolutely no way I’d feed a media frenzy about a Corvette losing to a Tesla in a drag race, even if this model of the all-electric car does generate 691 horsepower and 687 lb-ft of torque. Even if I would have been forced to write the piece by the higher-ups who cut my check, I certainly wouldn’t have posted it under my name.

It just makes my stomach turn, knowing how Tesla’s founder, Elon Musk, would have been bragging to all his buddies up there in Silicon Valley about how his Model S P85D beat a C7 Corvette on the dragstrip.

Fortunately, despite a somewhat scary start for Corvette fans, the C7 pulls away to win this thing with a time of 11.67 versus the Tesla’s 11.79, as shown in the video below.
