$20 million in greenbacks sitting inside the safe of my choosing is definitely worth more to me than $20 million floating in space. Apple pie à la mode is worth significantly more to my taste buds than apple pie paired only with a plate. One look at this week’s Wednesday wallpaper, and suddenly the equation “1 + 1 = 3″ begins making a lot more sense. Don’t be surprised if your computer desktop whispers, “I’m extra worthy” after you plaster these ‘Vettes and jets on your computer screen for the week. I mean, “‘Vettes and jets” — the combo even rhymes, so you know it was meant to be.
Here are the mangled remnants of a Corvette after the driver lost control of the car on a Norwegian highway. Apparently, the Corvette hit a barrier, jumped into another lane and then crashed into an oncoming car, causing a few other vehicles (including a Dodge Ram … yes, a Dodge Ram in Norway) to wreck.
The next time I hear someone say, “You never really see famous people driving Corvettes in Hollywood,” I’m going to pull this photo up on my phone and say, “really?” In fact, I might even print out a few copies and send them to a couple of Ferrari dealerships in Los Angeles. I’d bet that would stir up conversations around those espresso machines.
The last Corvette has been pulled from the sinkhole, but about the only positive thing I can make of it is that we’re finally over this dreadful part of the ordeal. Donated by Kevin and Linda Helmintoller of Land O’ Lakes, Florida, the Mallett Hammer was valued at about $120,000 at one point, but I can’t even begin to imagine how much money it would take to rebuild it.
