Corvette Racing roars into Long Beach this weekend for the Tequila Patrón Sports Car Showcase with one nice win already under its belt. The team, looking to find its groove for the 2014 TUDOR United SportsCar Championship, was recently named RACER Magazine’s 2013 Team of the Year in worldwide motorsports. The editorial team of the popular racing publication selected Corvette Racing for the award based on the team’s winning the 2013 American Le Mans Series GT championship.

It looks like the Corvette Racing team has a few kinks to work out with the new C7.R. After rolling into the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring with high hopes of capturing a win, the team’s two C7.R cars ended up finishing sixth and eighth for the second round of the endurance race. At one point, the No. 4 Corvette C7.R led the race before two late spins and engine issues.

After much anticipation, the new racecar will make its first run at the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring this weekend, America’s oldest and most challenging sports car race. Widely considered as the spiritual birthplace of the modern-day Corvette Racing program, the Sebring 12 Hours was the very first place a Corvette raced back in 1956.
