Color Override Option Has Birthed Some Wild C7 Corvettes

How wild have the color selections been when ordering a C7? Well, apparently pretty wild — at least by Chevrolet’s standards.

Chevy spokesman Monte Doran says that even though the company spends years coming up with the most appropriate interior and exterior color matches for the Corvette, they still get requests for some pretty crazy combos, as highlighted in a recent Edmunds report.

Take for example, five 2014 Corvette Stingray buyers who wanted a bright red interior for their Lime Rock Green Metallic C7, instead of the black, gray, or tan interior recommended by Chevy. Or a few buyers of 2015 models who preferred a red interior for their Velocity Yellow Tintcoat Corvette.

To order the unique exterior and interior color trims, consumers need only check the Color Combination Override option.

The basic idea, says Doran, is that it’s impossible to predict every color combo a consumer might request, regardless of how hard Chevy works to provide a variety of options. And no combo is really wrong, right?
