Corvette Daytona Prototypes for Sale on eBay

A Lamborghini dealership in New Jersey is selling a pair of Corvette-bodied Dallara-chassis IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Daytona Prototypes, both run by the Wayne Taylor Racing team. These are current-specification cars, and in fact, the WTR team will be running one of them in Georgia at the Petit Le Mans 10-hour race in just a few days. And it actually just won the round at Circuit of the Americas. The listing is for their main race car, as well as their second wind-tunnel and testing car. Two Corvettes for the price of one.

Daytona Prototype-style racing cars have been legislated out of the IMSA series for 2017, rendering these cars ineligible for competition next year. As such, WTR has no need to keep them knocking around the shop, and the time is ripe for a collector to swoop in and pick them up.

But don’t expect to get a bargain for these carbon-body V8 mid-engine Corvettes. Though the eBay listing has ended, there were no takers with a starting bid of half-a-million dollars, and the buy-it-now price was listed at a whopping $700,000. The cars, I would wager, are still available to the right buyer. The eBay auction had minimal information, but it’s well known that this car is a winner, and if you buy now, you could be in the pit box watching at Road Atlanta as “your” car wins the race. Wouldn’t that be cool?

The cars are available through Lamborghini Paramus in New Jersey. You can get more information by calling Brian Kelly at (201) 267-8850.
