I can’t say I didn’t see this one coming, but I’m sure it’s bound to stir up some debate.

Following a police chase last September that ended in 51-year-old Brian Newt Beaird getting shot by officers on live TV, the Los Angeles City Council has decided to approve a $5 million settlement with the family of the National Guard veteran, according to a Los Angeles Times report.

The incident followed a wild police chase in what was believed to be a case of drunk and reckless driving. Beaird was shot by police after hitting a hydrant and staggering out of the C6 Corvette.

The family was originally seeking $20 million from the city, but I imagine at this point, all involved are probably just wanting to put this behind them and try to move on.
