Corvette ChaseThere’s no good news in this one anyway you look at it. The family of a Corvette driver who was fatally shot by LA police has filed a $20 million wrongful death suit against the city, according to a KTLA news report.

corvette-pursuit-guyFifty-one-year-old Brian Beaird was shot Dec. 13, following a one-hour-long police pursuit of the silver Corvette on live TV after he was allegedly spotted driving recklessly.  According to the report, the disabled Veteran was shot by officers when he stumbled out of the Corvette after hitting another vehicle at an intersection.

It’s believed that Beaird might have been fleeing police for a DUI. Three LAPD officers have been placed on extended leave pending further investigation of the shooting that drew national attention.

The lawsuit claims the officers, who reportedly fired more than 20 times, lacked the appropriate training to handle the situation.
