First C7 Corvette Grand Sport Goes for $170K at Auction

Well, it seems that my speculations that the first 2017 C7 Grand Sport might fetch a hefty sum at auction was a little off base.

Sure, $170,000 certainly isn’t chump change, but I expected the very first model to go for well over $250,000. After all, the first 2014 C7 Corvette sold for $1.1 million and the first 2016 Z06 C7.R sold for $500K. By my calculations that would put the C7 Grand Sport right around that $250K mark. But then again, I’m certainly no expert when it comes to Corvette auctions.

For those of you wondering, Rick Hendrick didn’t purchase the first 2017 Grand Sport; the buyer has apparently chosen to remain anonymous, according to GM Authority.

That rather surprising sum for the new Grand Sport does make you wonder about the car’s value in the long run as a collectible. Although, we’re pretty certain it won’t have any impact on immediate sales.
