“Going once.”

“Going twice.”

“There you have it, folks. The first 2017 Chevrolet Grand Sport Collector’s Edition with VIN #001 has been sold to Rick Hendrick for… ”

Now, in all actuality, that first Grand Sport doesn’t cross the blocks until Friday, April 8 at the Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach, Florida auction. But if history is any indication of what’s in store, Hendrick will probably ride away with the keys to the Grand Sport after posting a sizeable bid for the car.

After all, the Corvette collector has developed quite a knack for picking up the first production model of practically every C7 that Chevy has put up for auction. And we see no reason for him to stop now, not with such a hot model as the first Grand Sport.

Of course, the good thing is that those big money bids those C7s have been pulling down have all been going to a great cause. Money raised from the sale of the Grand Sport at Barrett-Jackson will go to the Karmanos Cancer Institute, which focuses on cancer patient care and education, prevention, early detection, and treatment.
