All That Glitters Isn’t Gold, Much Like This Big Block C3 Corvette

big block C3

You’d be forgiven if you thought this Corvette was really nice, and a steal at $24,000. But you’d have a look under the hood and find out that it actually appears to be a big block C3, which makes the price even more appealing. But as one Corvette Forum member is finding out: not everything is as it appears.

Upon closer inspection, this might not be an original big block, due to a couple of small details that keen forum members spotted. In this post, member Bhebert449 is looking to buy this lovely Bridgehampton Blue coupe, but has been greeted with some information that is making him think twice about the sale. Namely that there are some minor details that may have been overlooked when converting this C3 into a big block.

The problem that was spotted is the different leaf springs that were used between the two different powerplants, and this C3 doesn’t have the right components. Red flags all around went up following that observation. Thankfully with our knowledgeable members, Bhebert449 was advised to dig a little deeper and inspect other parts of the car, that might not be as good looking as the outside. It’s an easy trap to fall for though, especially once one becomes emotionally attached.
