Hennessey Begins Benchmarking A8 Z06 Corvette Test Car

Hennessey Performance is going to do some wicked things with the new Corvette Z06, and they just released a teaser video of their A8 test car. It is little more than a GoPro strapped to the bumper as it goes for a ride through the ¼ mile, with a secondary camera in car to stare at the speedo. But it sure has us thinking: just how fast is this thing?

The car is wearing factory rubber, filled to factory spec air pressure, and the surface is unprepared, but despite that, they clock the 0-60 sprint in 3.6 seconds with the quarter being eaten in 11.6 seconds at a speed of 126.5 mph. If that doesn’t seem insane enough for a car with a Hennessey badge, that is because this car is still stock. The team is just getting baseline measurements to build from. That means that the A8 Z06 is markedly faster than GM quoted, and it gives John Hennessey a great platform to build from. Once he and the team start the upgrade process, I half expect this car to turn the world backwards.

Traction is obviously an issue for the car, as the 60-foot roll took 2.1 seconds. So expect a new set of rubber. Obviously more boost will be coming, bringing with it more horsepower, and Hennessey will likely alter the entire breathing setup from intake to exhaust. Suspension upgrades are a maybe, but considering how good the stock Z06 is, I am not sure they will mess with things too much.

No more information is given in the video, so we will have to wait a little longer to learn about what John and the team have planned, but one thing is for certain. It will be very, very fast.
