NYC College Student Wins $5,000 for Photographing the Z06 Convertible

So how does this sound?

Chevy: “We’ll give you a few hours to photograph the new 2015 Convertible Corvette Z06 for a chance to win $5,000.”

Well, that’s exactly what happened, and a New York-based college student by the name of Dan Wang walked away with the cash and the opportunity of a lifetime.

Now, before you throw a fit because you didn’t get a chance to put your photography skills to work, the contest was only open to New York based-college students as part of the Convertible Z06’s official debut at the New York auto show. Wang, a 22-year-old advertising student at Rochester Institute of Technology, was one of three students who participated.

The winner was selected based on votes received on the Corvette Facebook page.

Wang says he plans to use the prize money to help fund some of his personal projects like documenting the Hardcore Happening: an annual Hot Rod festival in upstate New York.

Hopefully he’ll have some cool shots of Corvettes to share with us from the event. He’s certainly proven he’s more than capable of pulling off some terrific compositions.
