Quarter-Mile Beast: Unicorn C6 Corvette Deep in the Eights

Have you ever had a car that you built for your own enjoyment, but haven’t really taken it to the strip? Well, that very well might be the case with the newly-built Unicorn Corvette. There’s not enough room under the hood for its two 88mm turbos, and, to back up that power, its also on spray. The whole mill is rumored to push out 2,400 hp, but for this test run down the strip, it is dialed back considerably.

Traction is an evil mistress, and it didn’t spare the Unicorn on this particular pass. The launch looks to be decent, but once it hits boost, the relationship between the tires and the track surface changed its status to “complicated.” The Unicorn still managed to put down an 8.40 @ 173mph after dicing to each side of its lane during the pass. It’s rumored that the pass shown in the video is only the Corvette’s second pass with the new setup. That may contribute to the traction issues, but once those are fixed and the boost is turned up, it looks like sevens will be a breeze.
