A Rivalry as Old as Time: C7 Corvette Grand Sport vs Porsche 911 Carrera S
In the video below, Motor Trend‘s Jonny Lieberman and Jason Cammisa throw their opinion into the ring with regard to the whole Corvette versus Porsche battle that’s been raging since the 1960s. However, with this most recent iteration, pitting a 2017 Corvette Grand Sport against a Porsche 911 Carrera S, both cars have become quite a bit more capable than their predecessors. The Porsche approaches speed with techno-wizzbangery, and while there is some of that in the Corvette’s trick Magnetorheological dampers, it mostly achieves its speed around a race track with more power, more downforce, and giant sticky Michelins. The pair of pundits aim to make the decision easy for us, but really just muddy the waters a bit.
They say the Corvette is more fun, but the Porsche is the logical choice. They say the Corvette is faster, but the Porsche more live-able. Eventually they both agree that the Corvette is the better of the two cars, but only just. This is probably a battle that will rage on for decades yet to come. The Corvette is certainly less expensive, so it’s probably the winner from that standpoint alone.
