The First C7 Corvette Z06 to Get Lambo-Style Doors

Corvette Forum members have grabbed their pitchforks over this C7 Z06 with Lambo-style doors. This bit of variety comes to us from forum member “type2designs” who hails from Tampa, Florida.

The first reply to Type2’s Lambo doors thread was met with this:

VT_Z06: “Someone take that poor car away from the fools who ruined it. God awful. Even Lambos shouldn’t have Lambo doors.”

I mentioned “type2designs” is a Floridian because after “VT_Z06” spewed his hatred, “soulsea” spread the icing on the hater cake by hitting Type2 with one of these:

Brutal.

Hey, guys. Before we go off the rails here, let’s remember we’re not dealing with one of these:

But “type2designs” takes it all in stride and finds the negative comments comical. He also brings up an interesting point:

“I’m 6′ 3″ and now I can finally get in and out of the car without scratching the damn interior.”

Think about that, haters. Type2 has performed a mod that will preserve his Corvette. Not only is the interior better off, but also, ironically because of their new incline, the doors are less inclined to hit other cars or scrape on high curbs.

At the end of the day, this is one of the most practical mods out there for a Corvette. Type2 reports, “Ninety percent of the reason for the upgrade was utility.” The modification has also turned Type2 into a celebrity. “When I took it to the beach […] I had a crowd of people around it taking pictures until I left.”

So this mod seems to be getting a positive response in the real world, but in the cutthroat world of Corvette lovers waiting to hate, the Lambo-door upgrade (yes, I think it’s an upgrade) is something I have added to our list of Things that Will Get You Bashed on Corvette Forum.

Indeed, modding a ‘Vette with Lamborghini-style doors somewhat applies to No. 4 on that list: “Profess Your Love for Anything Aftermarket”, but with the hatred thrown at Type2, I had to append to the register.

On a positive note, the hatred subsides to praise as you dig deeper into Type2’s thread. I doubt there would have been any praise at all if vertical doors had been added to a C4 or earlier Corvette.

Like this mod? Type2 says he paid about $1,500 for it. If you ask me, that’s a small price to pay to piss off a gaggle of purists.
