Bowling Green, Kentucky might be the home of the Corvette, but the heart of the C7 now seems to lie in New York at the plant that produces the engine for the car.

As of the close of November, GM sold more than 31,000 Corvettes last year, and all the engines for those cars were built at the New York Tonawanda plant, according to a WBFO.org report.

The Tonawanda Powertrain facility builds a number of other Chevy engines, but producing the LT4 for the Z06 is what they’re really reveling in now, according to the plant’s manager Steve Finch. And given how iconic the engine is for Chevy, it’s easy to understand why it’s so monumental for the facility.
