There’s a reason that everything in life doesn’t come with do-it-yourself instructions. Namely, because although it might seem like a novel idea, some things require a bit more expertise. The catch is, it’s important to realize as much before tackling a task that is better left up to someone who actually knows how to get the job done.

Take, for example, this photo picked up by High Tech Corvette, which showcases one of those do-it-yourself jobs gone wrong.

Apparently, some guy took his Corvette into a shop, wondering why the blower he installed wasn’t putting out the right kind of power. But a closer look at the photo reveals why. Not only did the owner use the wrong cold air intake, but he also didn’t connect the manifold to get the forced induction that comes with supercharging.

Honest mistake? Well, that probably depends on who you ask. But one thing’s for certain, it’s a great example of why some do-it-yourself jobs aren’t for everybody.
