Why Did This Corvette Get Traded for a Durango?

When it comes time to getting rid of your Corvette, it would seem unlikely to trade it in for a Dodge Durango. It seems like a ridiculous choice, and not an upgrade. Why would anyone make such a move?

Yet Corvette Forum member devnull did just that swap recently. His family car, a Jeep Commander, recently got smashed by a teenage driver, totaling the car.

Replacing the family car was important, so devnull took the insurance money and his money from the Corvette, and he used it to get a new Durango R/T.

For the uninitiated, the Durango R/T is actually a fabulous family hauler. It’s easy to get in and out of. It’s rear-wheel drive. Plus it’s powered by a HEMI V8.

This author has driven a few of those HEMI Durangos, and each one was a hoot. No, they aren’t the same type of fun as a Corvette, but it’s only a temporary problem for devnull.

All Is Not Lost for Corvette Ownership

“Will miss that C7, was the best vette I’ve ever owned by far, but will certainly buy another after all of this settles,” says devnull.

We wish him the best with the new family car, and look forward to welcoming him back to the Corvette owners realm when the time is right.

What do you think? Have you had to make a sacrifice with your Corvette for the sake of the family? Let us know your story!
