Default ???Changing the blinker/running light bulb???

My front passenger running light is burnt out and I need to change it...How do I do this? I can't access it from under the hood or under the front bumper...The lens seems to hinge back slightly, but I don't see how to get to the bulb. What the heck...Am I stupid?

from what ive heard u can get to it from the top side by going under the headlamp. personally, wehn i did mine i did the hard way and took off the close put panel under the frt bumper and went in that way. but many people say u can get to it from the top. i know i just changed my fog lamp bulbs to superwhites from the top side, 30 seconds per side. was very easy. should be fairly similar since they are in almost same spot.

Just drive the car up on some ramps (or jack up the front end) and remove the bottom access panel. Once that's removed, you can just push the brake duct out of the way and have easy access to all bulbs. Trying to come in from the top through the headlight area is a PIA unless you have skinny arms.

Move the brake duct to the side and if you can fit your hand in the hole the blinker in right there. That is how I changed mine GOOD LUCK

Ahhhhh!!!! That was the biggest PIA!!!! First I turned on my headlights so I could attempt to go in through the top (hood, under the headlight) I am relatively small boned and I got my arm caught!! No big deal...only lost 2 layers of skin trying to get my arm out. I didn't want to bother with taking the panel off, so I went in through the brake duct and that was by far the best way to go. Don't forget you have to press the "tab" on the light bulb housing in order to rotate it and remove it. Thank God I love this car or I would of sold it or pushed it off a cliff after getting my arm caught. :mad :mad

I had the same problem, lost 2 layers of skin also. Then I decided to remove the 4 screws holding the black plastic around the headlight. Very easy, short screws. Once they are removed, it a straight shot at the lamp. BUT the bigger question. Why the hell does this lamp keep burning out. I have to make my 3rd replacement. I am starting to think it has something to do with water...

I had one go out on Monday. Went to my guy and he said turn on the lights, so I raised the light and he stuck his hand in and 20 seconds later had the burned out bulb in his hand. I bought another and 15 seconds later it was installed. No skin involved

Default Easy Way To Change the Bulb

I found a simple way to do this. Push the break duct out of the way and spray your arm with WD-40. Im 225 lbs and this allowed me to easily enter my arm and changed the bulb. I was in and out in about 30 seconds.

I used the pound of flesh method too (all right, just two layers as previously mentioned. Get the headlights up using your preferred method by either powering them on or using the *****. I then remove the plastic shroud around the head light assembly, three screws. I then reach in and after a couple of scrapes on the arm and hand I have the bulb socket out. It's not the best or the easiest but probably the fastest for me. I hadn't heard about the brake duct method...I may give that one a shot after reading this thread for my next bulb.

I've done this on a number of occasions.

Pop up the headlights and back off one position to kill the lights

Take off the black plastic housing around the headlight (3 screws). Reach down inside around the headlight unit and the DRL bulbs are easliy accesible. Squeeze the bulb holder to release the spring clip and rotate the unit to release it from the housing (I think its counter clockwise). Its a one handed job so it can be tricky. Change the bulb and reverse to reassemble.

5 minute job - Easy!

Default ???Changing the blinker/running light bulb???

One thing that has not been mentioned is how to handle the bulbs.
When you handle the new bulb (including taking it out of the package) wear a surgical glove or similar.

As with projector bulbs, these bulbs will burn out faster if handled with bare hands due to the oil on your skin.
