Default Cracked Parking Light Lens

While washing my Y2K MY coupe yesterday I noticed several small cracks at the bottom inside edge of the driver’s side parking light lens in the clear colored section. Just below this area on the urethane bumper I also noticed a small speck where the paint was chipped. I suspect that a small stone or chip kicked up and hit the bumper and lens. The lens has two small cracks – one about i/2 in. long , the other 3/4 in., both starting at the corner and going inwards to the len’s center.

I do not have a service manual yet and was wondering how the lens was removed? Since the lens is rather long and contains both amber and clear, I assume that it is expensive? I probably won’t replace it until the cracks grow longer.

Thanks,
Dave K.

This is a common problem with the C5. Mine have small cracks also. You can access the assembly by jacking up the car and removing the access panel that is under the front fascia on each side. Once removed, you can just reach up and remove the part.

JD,

Is the lens held in place by a couple of speed nuts? Any sealant required?

Thanks,
Dave K.

I know you asked JD...

No sealant required. There is a spring that pulls the lens to the front bumper and 1 small screw bolt.
