I have a 1999 and my wife has a 2000. I really would like to see these parts become available.

Good question. The EBCM in my 98 works, but I get intermittent 'service vehicle soon' messages which seem to be due to code C1281. I hope that doesn't mean the steering wheel position sensor is going bad. It has done this since the car was new and the dealer could never fix it.

+1. I love my 99' FRC/Z51, but I feel like I'm driving on borrowed time with the EBCM. I'm absolutely 'IN'.

I see the GM people jumping all over this post!!
They are avoiding it like the PLAGUE!
I have asked this question several times and even pleaded with GM Customer Assistance people for help or even an explanation!
One GM Rep told me to go to the PARTS COUNTER for assistance getting the parts we can’t find.
What part of "THEY ARE DISCONTINUED" DONT THEY UNDERSTAND?????????????????????
CRICKETS!!

In this case I think a slow response may very well be a good thing. Maybe GM will actually try to supply this discontinued part and that might take a bit of time.
Regardless, this will be a political decision, not a technical one. I'm sure the bean counters will be involved, too. Again, all of this takes time.
IMO, if there had been a fast response, it would be been either "no" or, once again with feeling, "discuss it with the parts department at your local dealer".
