Default C7 Z06 vs C6 ZR1 at Milford

The GM press release stated that the new Z06 (Z07) was a full second faster than the ZR1 on the 2.9 mile Milford course. There has been debate on this forum of the configuration of the ZR1 for that lap time comparison. Was it a PDE ZR1 equipped with the Sport Cup (1) ZPs or was the comparison done with a ZR1 equipped with the new Sport Cup 2 ZPs? Also, since the Sport Cup 2s were developed on the ZR1 can you give us some idea of the lap time improvements the ZR1 saw going from the Cup 1 to the Cup 2 tires? Thanks.

I mean...in reality, shouldn't we be more concerned about the Z06 beating the prior Z06? It does.

It is pretty obvious that performance goals were the ZR1. If GM is going to give a time comparison to the ZR1 then I don't see any problem asking what configuration that comparison was based on.

Default Update

Update: Tadge got overwhelmed at work this week and wasn't able to get the answer to me. He's going to try to do it on Monday. I'll update things as soon as I hear from him again.

Sorry for the lag time, but sometimes work can do that to ya...

Looks like that was false. According to Jim Mero's answer to the question, GM never did any testing of the ZR1 on the new Cup 2 tires at Milford or anywhere else.
