Default [ASKED] Introduce the Corvette Engineering Team

Hi Tadge -

Would you be willing to introduce us to the team of engineers and others that work on the Corvette? I'm curious as to how many folks are directly tied to the Corvette.

Thanks!

Default Introduce the Corvette Engineering Team

This might be difficult. A lot of the guys who work on the Corvette don't work for GM but rather the suppliers.

Bosch (both steering and brakes) does extensive tuning that GM "approves" via a Jim Mero or other engineering drive. But a lot of the Corvette guys are doing the nitty gritty work of releasing parts, tracking issues, and working on year over year updates with the supply base.

Powertrain is the only area 100% developed by GM internally.

This supplier expertise is why even Tadge can't explain certain aspects of the steering tune. You want those answers you need to talk to the guy at Bosch who tuned it. The same is true of the brakes, shocks, and driveline (sans engine).

I think it would be interesting for folks to see and understand how (relatively) small the Corvette engineering team really is, and I see this as an opportunity for that. Specially when people start in on GM with the, "Why hasn't this or that part or system been improved/changed/modified yet!?"

I like the question too and I vote for it. Besides they should be proud to have their name listed or even recognized.

Grandson worked for GM a very short two months as an engineer area was wheel speed sensors and brake lines for one platform not corvette. There arec 9000+ working on different mass produced cars. Do you really want to meet them all?

If I were a Corvette engineer, I would not want my identity linked to here.

I would be very concerned about linking my good name and career to a public site with so much casual racism. I don't ever go to the political and controversy areas because of this , I am only here for enjoyment , not agendas.

However, as I expected, a recent post in the off topic section about a primate shot at a zoo brought out the usual pictures of black people as apes, often posted quickly then removed, but repeated in following posts.

I wouldn't want to go into a meeting with a couple of screen shots of humans equated with monkeys from a site where this was business as usual and that had my name anywhere on it.

I am surprised Chevy and Tadge are still here, this is not a new development. Perhaps I am wrong, and GM doesn't care. I mentioned this before and hoped things would improve, but it still is the usual , casual acceptance of the denigration of others because of race or sexuality. I question my own, slight , participation here. A guest should accept what is offered, I can't easily do that , but don't run the joint, and it has a lot of positive aspects.

I've clipped the rest of your post because I feel it's not really worth repeating. A couple of things:

1. If you have issues with the environment here on CF, you're welcome to contact the management team to discuss it with them. Posting about it publicly, specially in an "Ask Tadge" question, isn't going to get you very far. Any other mod would probably just delete your question or move it to the "Feedback" section.

2. During a long-ago exchange between Tadge and myself with regards to another question/answer, I casually asked him if he'd even entertain introducing the team. He's all for it (assuming it wins, of course), as are his engineers. I don't think there's anything to worry about with regards to them being "attached" to this site. Their careers will speak for themselves.

Update: I think GM's email software might have eaten the question when I sent it to Tadge because he hasn't seen it. So I re-sent it to him today and it'll hopefully be answered soon...ish?

Stay tuned.
