C6 5 1/4 in speaker fix - expanding foam
As many C6 know there are no enclosures on the rear 5 1/4 speakers. I made forms up to cover the open areas and then used that expanding foam insolation to seal up the enclosure. On the passenger side there is a one way vent to releave some internal car pressures (I guess) but at least it is not open to the interior of the car. The difference is very noticable - much richer and the bass is much more full. This fix will probably not h elp the Bose originals but if you are up grading the rears this is a good cheap tune up that also quiets the car some.

Sorry - the car is all back together but it is pretty simple. You simply go to home depot and buy a can of that expanding foam stuff. Cut a cardboard form to cover the front of the speaker frame and tape it in place with masking tape. You then build up the new wall with the foam. For the back cavity you just fill up the hole with the foam. Once it has dried remove the cardboard and shape the foam with a knife.

What about drilling a hole in the wheel well behind the speaker and filling the void using minimum expanding foam. I think this would decrease tire noise in my C5 but have not tried it yet. Not sure if there is anything in this space that would be adveresly affected.
