Default Amp suggestions please

Does anyone know of a 150x4 chan amp @ 4 ohms, that you can bridge 2 of the channels into 300w, that is stable with a 1.5 ohm amp load? =)
(and ideally its dimensions are less than 22"L x 10"W)

I'd like to run a DVC 6ohm JL 12w6 on 2 of the channels bridged...

Thanks

may i ask why you want to do that instead of both voice coils off of one chan? elemental designs has a fairly inexpensive 1 ohm stable mono amp. the nine.1

I was planning on bridging 2 of the 4 channels into mono and running the sub in mono. Sub in stereo = bad =). I want to use a single amp for the fronts and the sub so I can mount it vertically in the back area of the trunk (above the big compartment).

It just happens to work out the components im going to use eat about 150w and the sub requires about 300w. (thus the 150x4@4ohm)

oh sorry, i read it quickly. i see what you're trying to do...problem is, finding an amp that will run 1.5 ohms bridged. I think zapco would modify an amp..but for a price... and at the cost of sq too

Are you familiar at all with the UsAmps X Terminator XT-1600.4? Seems like the closest one I can find to fit the bill.

I used the below in my SS to run MB Quart components up front and a JL sub. Works great!

Eclipse PA5532 - Eclipse 5 Ch 960 Watt Amplifier
125W 4 Channel + 460W 1 Channel Max. Power Output at 2 Stereo

70W 4 Channel + 280W 1 Channel 0.004% THD at 2 Stereo, 20 20,000Hz@13.8V (RMS Continuous Power)

50W 4 Channel + 200W 1 Channel 0.004% THD at 4W Stereo, 20 20,000Hz@13.8V (RMS Continuous Power)

ChannelFlex Crossover

Adjustable High-Pass Crossover (12dB/octave, 50?200Hz) for Front & 120Hz (Fix) for Rear Independently

Adjustable Low-Pass Crossover (12dB/octave, 50?200Hz)

Free-Flow Signal Circuit

Double-Sided PCB

High-Current, High-Speed Output Devices

High-Efficiency, High-Energy MOSFET Power Supply

Audiophile Grade Component Selection

Intelligent 7-Way Discrete Protection Circuitry

Music Reproduction with Low Distortion & Ultra-Low Negative Feedback

Efficient Cooling with Low-Profile Heatsink

Multi-Mode Configuration

Stereo/Mono Switch

2 Stable Design

PG amps have been known for 1 ohm stability bridged. I have not kept up with their reputation lately, I know they now have a "cheap" line.

PPI and Orion come to mind as being able to come close to what you want.

That 1.5 ohm crap on the JL sub is designed to work best with JL amps.

Thanks I'll take a look at that one to see. Only concern is amp will be seing a 1.5ohm load on 2 channels bridged (ouch)

Yeah I have always thought it was a bit odd that JL did 6ohm DVC subs... But the 12w6's are some of the best hitting (for their 5.xx" mounting depth) sub's I've managed to find. I had 2 in my truck and figured I'd just move one over to the car and save a few bucks.

I also have a PG Titanium 400.2 left over. I really wanted to get a JL 250/1 Slash and use the PG Ti, but I dont think there is enough room on the back board of the trunk to mount them side by side vertically.

Thoughts?

It's for multiples of 3

Do you just have 1 sub or 2? Because if you've only got one, you're just looking for stable at 3 ohms bridged, not 1.5.

My very first sub was a 12w6 D6, ran it at 3 ohms on my RF 360a2, insanely loud

Also, finding something that does 150 x 4 @ 4 ohms(likely going to be around 250 x 4 @ 2 ohms or 500 x 2 @ 4 ohms), you'll end up with a configuration like this:

Front two channels: 150 x 2 @ 2 ohms.

Rear two channels bridged: 600ish x 1 @ 3 ohms

600ish because I'm guessing the amplifier you're looking for won't actually rate their channels at 3 ohms bridged and it's kinda hard to make up the #. Could be anywhere from the 500 it'd do at 4 ohms up to about 800.

What kind of speakers are you running up front? You could probably do with a bit smaller amp and still have great SQ.

Thanks for the ideas. Today I finally pulled the trigger and put in the order for my full project. Amps are going to be a Phoenix Gold Titanium 400.2 (200x2) which I already had and a JL Slash 500/1.

JL will run the 12w6 D6 and the PG will run the Focal 165 K2P's. I have a Pioneer Premier DEH-940MP and a Audiocontrol 3.1 in the dash.

Managed to pull up all the carpet in the trunk today and dynomat half of it, fingers hurt like hell but I'm hoping it will be worth it .
