C5 Radio Bracket
What do most people do with the bracket in the C5 radio section? My HU is too long and bumps up-against it, and I would assume most others do as well, but do not recall reading about it in any of the install threads - maybe Im different...
This is what Im talking about.
So do I drill out the rivets and remove it?
Bend it back (Not sure how I would do that)
Dremel the center section out and leave the two side pieces in as support?
Dremel off just the back section?
Thanks for helping
Steve

Steve,
That all kinda depends on what you're putting back in. If it is a single din head you can mount it high enough to clear that back piece. If it is a double din then you need to drill out the rivets, turn it over, and bolt it back in the same holes. It will fit perfectly.
Good Luck

SCS,
Glad to see another person from Oklahoma City on here!
I took my drill and a small drill bit and drilled some small holes on either side of the oval opening to remove some of the metal, then snapped the top part of that piece off.
I followed up with a file to remove the rough edges and my HU cleared just fine.
(I also bought another cage in case I ever want to return the car to stock.)
I suppose you could use a Dremel and a cut-off wheel, but I would be careful of the debris that would be thrown from it.

Very old post, but still helping people out 7 years later as this helped me figure out how to install my single din flush without cutting the bracket tab. Thanks guys.
