Sirius instead of XM in an 08?

I'm not sure what this is, can you explain?
I know the two companies merged, and I've heard that some of the Sirius stations are available, but I was sure how any of that would work. It's easier to add a radio to my existing Sirius account than start a whole account with XM, plus I'd hate to sign up with XM only to find out that I can't get the stations and programs I want. Sounds like I need to look into the programing that's available.
