I checked Guysoflidar.com and found the following for my state of Colorado.

42--4-1414--Radar Jamming devices prohibited--penalty.

(1) (a) No person shall use, possess, or sell a radar jamming device.
(b) No person shall operate a motor vehicle with a radar jamming device in the motor vehicle.
(2) (A) For the purpose of this section, "radar jamming device" means any device active or passive, instrument, ,machanism, or equipment that is designed or intended to interfere with, disrupt, or scramble the radar or LASER that is used by law enforcement aagencies and peace officers to measure the speed of motor vehicles.

This is the meat of the law in Colorado.

We all know what this means and what the intent of the law is. It does not matter if the jammer is for radar or laser, it's illegal. I think most states read about the same. You can check your state on this web site.

I have never had the need to own a "jammer" or radar detector in my life. Colorado's speed limit on interstate highways is 75 MPH. Five over that is plenty fast for anybody to drive on a public highway.

LEO's have the ability to use their own discretion when it comes to writing citations. Get caught speeding with one of those in your car and the scales can 'tip the wrong way'. If you get brave and take it to court I guarantee the fact that you had a jammer or detector in your car will come out, which can also 'tip the scales the wrong way'. By the way, LEO's like vettes and some drive them too, so next time you go by a cruiser 'Do The Wave' (with all your fingers) you can't go wrong with that!

Sorry if I sound so rude, but don't break the law and you will not need "such devises" in your life!!!
Like cops never use the "blue veil of protection" to get away with illegal activities. I wonder how many cops are ever banged for speeding or other illegal activities that they do?

Bottom line folks is this: ANY radar jammer that you can buy commercially DOES NOT WORK. period.

Any published reports that they do work come from the people that make them.

There was one that did work and worked real good. So well in fact, the FCC went after the guy right away. He then started selling it in kit form and they even found a way to stop that. This was before KA Band came out so it never got that far. Yes, as much as I would love to jam the leo's radar, the fact is, with so much traffic out and about, you really can't go that fast anyway and certainly not out here on the west coast. Jamming laser, I'm surprised that its still legal in some states. No, I'm not jamming anyone, anywhere. I certainly respect the leo's and all the stuff they have to put up with on a daily basis and for those drivers who need a ticket for reckless driving, so be it. They get was they diserve.

Since the overwhelming majority of what I see says RM is useless, I'd really appreciate seeing the results of your research.

Default And why do most people confuse radar and laser

LASER has nothing at all to do with RADAR.

So. You skipped the good stuff and bogged down on what you didn't want to read.

If you had bothered to read the entire thread, you would have found a wealth of information that directly addresses the original question. There have been some top quality links posted.

Some of us also attempted to address the legal concerns of other posters. What is so wrong about that? Knowing the laws lets each free man determine his course of action.

We all choose to break laws from time to time. I pride myself on NEVER obeying the stupid "NMSL" or 55 MPH speed limit that was a law for 20 maddening years (except when it was obvious that a leo was nearby). If they pass another one, I'll refuse to obey that one too.

However, speeding is merely an infraction. That's a far cry from a Federal felony in case you aren't aware.

Show me just one other thread that is laser straight on topic and I'll consider your comments relevant. Threads are conversations. Much of the time the barely related comments add more value than the OP intended. You sound like the sort of leo that gives cops a bad name.

You are so wrong! They do work VERY VERY well. Don't know where you got that info.
