Default Installing AVIC or Kenwood In Dash GPS on C6 Bose - How Hard?

I have some rudimentary skills. I'm patient, though.

I have a new (to me) 2005 C6 equipped with the non navi Bose radio and no OnStar.

Here's what I need:

Bluetooth (integrated into the unit)
iPod Connector

NOT planning on changing speakers. Looks like it's a harness swap or no? Can the XM puck that is on there now be recycled for a new unit? And does that puck also have a provision for GPS? I would think it does.

Trolling here looks like I might need a chime harness as well.

How hard for a novice to do this swap or should I get a pro?

Looking at the AVIC and Kenwood Excelon DNX models.

Thanks in advance.

You could do it yourself. Just take your time. I have been debating getting a C6 without the NAV so I could install a better after market one myself. I have the AVIC Z3 and it is great. That unit will do all you want it to do. Don't worry about the GPS antenna because the new unit will have one. That unit has GPS/NAV, can do bluetooth, XM, etc..

Go for the AVIC Z series if you go with Pioneer though. It is a little more money but looks much nicer with the larger screen.

And consider some soundproofing so you can talk hands free easier.

Between this install thread and this parts thread all of your questions should be answered.

Your starting and ending points look like they're the same as mine:
-you can use the GMCO interface (no additional chime module needed)
-you need to buy the XM (or SIRIUS) module that goes with whatever HU you get, the stock one won't convert over, and it comes with a new antenna (pics in install thread for mounting it on vents)
-new HU will have GPS antenna in box, mount next to XM above vents
-you might need a pair of ground loop isolators to go with the GMCO

If the thought of doing it yourself is even a possibility, then yes, you can do it yourself. If you have any problems that aren't in the FAQ thread just post them up and you'll get the help you need.
