Default Hmmmm-new deck sounds worse

I changed out the deck on my 2002 C5 with a PA 5300. I kept the stock speakers. I used the wiring adaptor and Sven2 to hook it up. Pretty simple install....however, the sound blows. I know that the Bose needs to go, but until then I wanted to get some input to see if I'm missing something with this setup. At the normal bass and treble settings, I get a ton of distortion from the subs (no crisp bass). I had to turn the bass way down, but that leaves me with no midrange or low bass. Did I hook up something wrong or does the PA 5300 require real speakers? It was such a simple setup I can't see how I messed it up.

Both switches on the SVEN2 should not be in the rca position. At first it sounds like you get more bass that way, but it is actually distorting.

I followed the instructions, but I can't remember the switch positions. I'll take it apart and check it. Thanks for the help!

The Sven2 has one switch for the input (rca/wired) and one for output(rca/wired). Playing with different combinations made no difference. Both rca, both wired, one rca and one wired...I'm still just getting a distorted subwoofer sound that dominates.

Doesnt that adapter bypass the factory amps? a HU with no amp is going to sound pretty crappy.

This hu just has treble and bass adjustments. I have both set to midpoints. I'll double check my rca switch setting to verify.

Ok, it sounds better. Not great, but better. My rca/wired switches were backwards. The HU also had a subwoofer setting set to OFF. I turned that on for the hell of it and the sound is balanced better. I guess I'll be buying an amp and speakers soon.

Thanks for the help,
Larry

the sub seting on the headunit should have zero effect on anything. and u can adjust the door subs via the adjustment screws on the sven2, keep them equal

That's what I thought. I did the adjustment screws but can't really tell any difference. I just set them about mid-travel.

Thanks for the help,
Larry
