Default AMP won't power up...HELP?

Today I installed the aoem-gm24 harness to my 2011 Grand Sport with Navigation. I cannot get the AMP to power up...here is what i did to wire everything up...

1. Power cable runs from the positive of the battery to the AMP
2. Remote cable from harness side ties into the pink wire from the factory harness (see picture) and the remote from the RCA side is attached to the blue remote wire and runs to the AMP (see picture)
3. Ground runs from the AMP to a ground

With the above as stated, the AMP does not power up....

Any suggestions? Also, the RCAs are connected to the "front" connection of the RCA outputs of the aoem-gm24 harness.

One more issue i encountered is that if the source of the radio was in FM or XM, it would switch itself to AUX

Any help would be greatly appreciated...thanks in advance!

Can you measure ~12v from + to - on the amp? When supposedly on, can you measure 12v from the turn on wire?

Yup - easiest way to trace down the source of the problem. It could be as simple as a blown fuse (sometimes the break isn't that obvious) or a missing fuse (in the fuseholder battery - there is a fuse in the fuseholder right?), to something in your wired connections, to a bad amp. But first you need to verify that power and turn on are being supplied to the amp, and then it should be relatively easy to narrow down.

I got a tester and verified that i do have power in the power cable. For testing purposes i used the exhaust tip for ground and that is working just fine. However still no power to the AMP.

You'll see in the pic below how it is connected with the remote as well.

20A fuse in the AMP is good, i even replaced it just to make sure.

In the two photos below i have the car on and head unit on an FM station. The lighted picture shows that i have power to the power cable but the second picture does not show i have power in the remote cable...what could i do next? From the picture above, I connected it all correctly to the AOEM harness

either your remote wire is broken or you dont have it connected to the proper place on the other end. also if you read faq you really dont need the oem1 box, you are better off just using the addgm24 harness

I can only assume that somewhere down the line the remote wire got nicked and cut. It does say to splice into the pink wire of the factory harness as i did per the picture above

check for 12 volts at the splice before digging up the remote wire

I guess i can also run the remote wire from the power window fuse instead of through the oem-1 right?

im 99% positive turn on wire on the c6 radio is a white wire. probe the harness or look at the schematic but i think its a white wire meaning you have the wrong wire

hhmm thats interesting bc the oem-1 says to connect into the pink wire..perhaps i will try the white wire as well

what about just going into the fuse box of the power window fuse directly?

White wire at B3 of the main radio plug is the proper one to use as amp trigger

BINGO!!! white wire it was! Thanks everyone for the help!

Bass is not too powerful just enough to make the music sound better and maybe its just in my mind but even sounds like the factory speakers have gotten louder too.

Next problem...how to keep the amp cooler, it is burning hot..maybe you'd suggest to use a different amp?

There's nothing inherently wrong with that amp. My RF punch runs cool even when it's fully covered in my amp rack.

Where is your amp grounded to? Did you sand/scrape any paint from the ground point?

I connected the ground to a 10mm screw behind the passenger seat that is a bracket for the convertible top. Maybe my ground gauge is too small? It is a 14 gauge. The power cable is a 4 gauge i believe.

If i need a thicker gauge wire i will have to buy a longer ground wire and run it to the bolt of the seat.

You MUST replace that ground wire with the same size as the power cable.

I don't think I'd even risk running that amp until it was replaced, you're just asking for it to burn out or possibly even catch on fire.

Amps get warm with normal use, if its too hot to touch that indicates a problem, 4g in with 14g out is a HUGE problem. So yes, it should help.

yes deffinetly change ground, you probally have huge voltage drop which could explain your heat issue
