1988 Stereo Problem
O.K. , I bought my 1988 with a complete aftermarket stereo. It sounded great but that ugly aftermarket stereo was killing me , so I put the original Bose deck that he gave to me back in , only to realize that it doesn't work with the aftermarket Boston Acoustics speakers. I do have the original Bose speakers in boxes but my question is this......What if I get an original stereo from say the same year Camaro or similar car but its not a Bose deck. would that work? Or do they make aftermarket retro looking CD players that are compatible with non Bose speakers? Please help me , I need some good tunes but I also need a factory looking car. Any input is helpful. Also what are some of the non vette cars that came with pretty much the same deck that was non-Bose?

Believe me, you don't want the original Bose crap. I've owned 4 corvettes over the years, and i've pulled the bose junk out of every one of them. Just go buy a decent head unit from alpine or jvc and stick with that.

I had an aftermarket deck in there , but I enter it in a stock class in local shows. I am a stickler for factory looking. I am just wondering id a Delco stereo out of say an 88 Cadillac that's not BOSE would work with my aftermarket boston acoustics speakers , seeing how it sounded good with the kenwood deck that was in there. I'm just looking for a decent sound , nothing crazy.

Le Mans Master
A regular deco deck of that era will work. Could also get a CD player from say a 97 cavalier and an adapter harness and put that in. If you get the deco tape deck and need an iPod connection added to it or something like that let me know and I can mod it for you

Well , finished the stereo project. Found a rebuilt non-bose on EBAY that was rebuilt with an ipod jack built right in. Plugged right in to stock wires and sounds/looks incredible!!!!
