C5 Bose Radio Question/ Sounds bad
I have a 2000 FRC. The problem Im having is the radio sounds muffled as if someone through a towel over the speakers. It has plenty of bass, but seems to have no treble. Even with the bass turned all the way down and the treble up , it still sounds like that. And I have to turn the radio up high to hear it. Im not a radio guy at all and made a thread before about this. Also the rear speakers dont seem to work at all. I changed the head unit with another factory radio, because I wanted a CD player up front instead of the disc player in the back. It made no difference, and I didnt think it would. I checked the door speakers and they are not cracked or broke. Could this be the factory amp is bad? Bad ground? Should I try another amp? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Located above the gas pedal, up under the dash.
You may have a hard time finding a 'take off' since most people who go aftermarket just leave them be

I bought that one and changed it out... sounds the same. Mine must work as if its unplugged radio dont work at all. Change out the speakers with another set of Bose ?

Go to WalMArt and get a cheap set of 3.5" speakers first, should be under $25. If they fix the issue you can consider better speakers, but the cheap ones will sound as good or better than oem bose

I have the drivers side door panel off. It seems the smaller speaker is not working.... just the bigger bottom one is. I guess that could be why its mostly all bass.

Yes I was thinking the same thing. I just bought a set of Bose fronts, so when they get here Ill try them. After that I guess Im done, or just go after market stuff.

C5 prints are HERE. Nothing jumps out at me for what you could check.
Not sure what to tell you, I'd have to just poke around with a meter looking for something not right to see what was going on.
Have you looked at all of the pins on radio plugs C1 & C2 to make sure none are bent?

Just FYI...
The C5 radio puts out 4-channels of line-level signal to the bose processor. The processor splits out the bass from the line-level signal and sends it to the self amplified subs (obviously still working). The rest of the signal is 'processed' and sent back to the radio to be amplified before it gets sent out to the speakers. There are several plugs in the lines, but the radio is pretty much directly connected to the four speakers that aren't working.
Assuming your 'new' radio amp is functioning properly, I'd guess that your issue is with the signal getting from the processor back to the radio. Try to verify each wire going between them on the return path isn't broken. Use a meter on ohms, put one probe on each end of each wire, meter should show single digit ohms.
GOOD LUCK

I have the same problem with my BOSE stereo in my -00 coupé. The only difference is that the tweeter comes and goes. When I drive over a bump the sound returns, but after a while it disappears and only the bass sounds. I guess that it is a loose connection somewhere, but where??!!

It looks like it going to be a while till I get to this issue. I was going to drop it off and have it looked at within the next week or so, but I now have metal shavings in my oil So I have to do a motor rebuild first. Just as racing season starts, figures....
