Default New JL's didnt seem to make a differnce..

Well I just got my a new set of front and rear speakers for my coupe. I have a Pioneer DD that I got from Dennis awhile back. I also have a JL audio sub 12w6 and JL 500.1. I always thought it sounded good with the Bose but I knew it could be better. SO I purchased a set of
JL 2- C2 525X 5.25" Coax Speakers for the front and 650X 6.5" Coax Speakers for the rear. I was all excited and installing them and after I was done I threw on some tunes. To be honest I can't tell the difference. I think it sounds cleaner at higher volume but I really can't tell what should I have expected?

Coaxials??

I think you would need some decent components to get a really good sound. Just my $.02

Are the coaxials connected to head unit or AMP? I am guessing the JL 500.1 is a mono amp?

Were you running the stock bose speakers off an aftermarket head unit? Or were the bose still being powered by the stock bose amp?

When you installed the new JL speakers, is it being powered by the head unit or the stock bose amp?

Better highs and "cleaner at higher volume" is about all you'll get if the only change is upgrading the stock speakers.

the coaxials are connected throught the head unit I assume. All I did was plug and play. took the old ones out put the new ones in..

I just swapped out the head unit didn't touch the stock bose stuff. From my understanding its a pain and $$$ if you go that route..The front bose are still powered by the stock amp. The pioneer DD powers those..Does that make sense?

guess the head unit I didn't know you can power it through the amp. I just I just swapped out the 3.5" in front and the 6.5 in the rear. It was a 5 min swap if that after the door was off. I didn't mess with the stock amp or that driver..

Unless you did some kind of strange custom install your new radio is feeding the stock amp, which is supplying the speakers.

If you want mind-blowing you'd have to get an aftermarket amp and component speakers for the doors.

Is the JL audio RD900/5 the best amp to run in 3 channel for the price? (for the wattage required for the above applications-3-way doors with 10" sub)

You put a smaller and less efficient speaker in place of a midbass driver. You weren't going to be blown away because you effectively downgraded.

I had my 68 radio converted with Aurora Digital components. It rated a 200 watts RMS, 4 channel. I wired for a sub and amp and to have the JL Audio amp power the speakers. I install JL Audio C3 6.5" in my front kick panels 6"x9" in the rear. I did not my the sub. I was blown away how good it sounds off the head unit.
