Stereo for a C-2
I know in the past some have wanted info on putting a stereo system in a C-2. Well I have done that and then some in my '67 conv. I have attached pics, but will explain some of it here. The head unit is a Alpine CDE-154BT designed to handle iPod/iPhone. SiriusXm, Pandora and Android and remote capability. Cost is about $225. It is mounted in the glove box within a Metra Universal DW-9000 mount. It is controlled via a Pacific Accessory Corp. IR-X Infrared Remote Repeater hidden behind the dash. It gets it's command from a handheld Alpine RUE-4202 Remote Control unit. The IR sensor is the size of a eraser and is tucked in at the edge of the console lip. The speakers, two Boston 6x9 in the jack cover, two Infinity 4x6 in the kick panels and two 4" Infinity in the original dash location, have been in the car from the previous system. The amps are US Acoustics 4085 (front 4 speakers) and 2080 (rear 2 speakers) mounted on a separate board. I used 4 ga. wire for power and ground, connected to distribution blocks and then 8 ga. to the amps. I double grounded the battery. I installed a separate grounding block just for the amps with 4 ga. wire directly to the rear frame. Everything is triggered via a Bosch SPDT relay behind the factory radio. Initial power comes from the original radio connection pin. Added detail....all connections were soldered.
I have over 300 songs on my iPhone and it has never sounded so good. The time and effort I spent has been well worth it. Warning!!! You WILL spend some time doing this and you WILL need to pull all the interior out except the dash. Any questions, PM me if you like. Dennis

Bought a house. No internet...Yet
May take a while but I will write down this thread on paper and respond with pics of my C-2 stereo build.
It is in the archives already but finding it is close to impossible for me as far as time wise.

This is very helpful as I am just about ready to start working the stereo upgrade portion of my full frame off resto. Only additional thing I'd like to incorporate is a pair of 10" shallow mount sub's which I might need to build into the floor. Any suggestions?
