Looking for best aftermarket sound system
Would like opinions on any aftermarket sound systems for my C5 FRC.
I would like the head unit to have XM radio, blue tooth and possibly navigation capability.
Also speakers and amp. Looking to remove the whole OEM Bose system.

If you don't do a double DIN radio, you are going to limit your ability to add navigation. IMO, a DD radio adds a lot to modernizing the C5 interior. Just finishing up a DD mod conversion in my car and it makes the interior have a newer contemporary appearance, especially with the full Garmin nav on the radio screen. I'm using a Kenwood I purchased from Dennis of DD Mods.

I really hate those radios that have the motorized screen that will come out and pop-up. In these cars it will block most of the center vents. I like the AC blowing cold air into my face, not the backside of the LCD screen.

Something like....
Sub box with Arc 10D4 sub
Arc XDi850.5 5-channel amp
Kenwood eXcelon single-Din receiver of your choice
Illuminated face plate to make it look snazzy
Components and rears as recommended by Dennis (Focal, Arc, whatever....)
That would sound pretty darn good in a FRC

Thread title says you want the BEST, then you state that you'll pay whatever it costs to get it done and you ask for suggestions.
The input you're getting is based on the parameters you supplied
If all you want is a good sounding setup at a decent price....
Sub in center tub, components in the doors, bridged 4-channel amp to power them. Easily blows away stock and can be done right for under $1000.

The largest sub I'm looking to use is possibly a Kenwwod KSC-SW11 series and that's about it.

Self powered sub boxes are fine to add a bit of extra low end to an otherwise stock system, but aren't able to keep up with a decent setup. If you want the end result to sound good at any volume level, you'll want a real sub, and you'll want to have enough power available to properly drive it on the occasions when you decide to crank it up.
The BOOM that you're worried about comes from an improper (and usually intentional) setup and/or the music itself.

As mentioned..
YOU control how much bass you want to have coming from a real sub box. We can make this happen so you dont Boom Boom Boom down the road.
The idea of a decent sub in the car is for your listening pleasure
You want a nice sounding setup then lets do this.

Change radio to a double din with NAv such as the new Kenwood DNX692 which we will have around the end of next month for 700.00 more which also included the modification of your bezel to a double din.
