Default Mounting 7" Garmin in C6

Just bought a Nuvi 2797 and need a plan to mount it. In CA, windshield suction cups are a no no.

This unit is pretty big and would appreciate your input.

TIA, 2k

I would go with a pro clip - use them for my phone and they work for GPS: http://www.proclipusa.com/gps-holder...-2797-lmt.cmsv

Thanks all for your input.

Was looking at Pro Clip, but didn't think it would work because of GPS size.

Thanks for the pics 1bdvet. And the extension used is from pro clip too??

I never got any notice for Suction mounts for my Tom-Toms in either my Z06 or my M3 in SoCal. Got a ticket or two over the years, cops never mentioned the mounts....

I've been back here in So Cal for a couple months and find people have sanded off the reflection paint from the rear license plates. Holy cow. In WA, people would be in jail for that.

If folks here can get away with that kind of chit, and there are quite a few (10 ish so far), a cop pulling people over for a suction cup mount has his priorities skewed.

I'm now worried about the law as much as being able to see out of the windshield and the thing falling off.

If I mount it in the left lower corner of the windshield, I can 't see my apex on left turns. Really blocks the view.

The mount has to be either a "Vent" mount or a Pro Clip.

could you mount it on top of the dash above the existing nav/radio?

In my volt, i had a 7" touch screen mounted in that same area running windows. No view obstructions. that spot may be fine for the vette as well. there was a bit of a "should i really mount this here? how are people going to respond?" kind of thoughts for me to get past. the mounting was with double sided foam sticky tape. sticky tape comes off with zippo fluid.

Anywhere on top of the dash is a no go in the Corvette.

I think I'll order my Pro Clip today and end this. I would like it a little higher, like a "Vent mount", but those are too flimsy.

Thanks all for your help.

How does it hold to the dash? Did you have to drill any holes? Would you have any pic of the back of your install. Thanks

Sorry don't have picture of clip just mounted without the GPS, but it just clips into dash, and little piece of double sided tape hold's it in place, and you can remove it by just unclipping it. Go to there website and they have video on installations and all the adapters they make for kinds of cars.
