Quesiton concerning bluetooth and C6
I have a 2012 GS, nav, bluetooth, etc. Thinking about an aftermarket head unit but had a question or two. I definitely want to keep my steering wheel controls and I know there are adapters to do that, but with the hands-free calling, will those steering wheel controls still work as well, or do you have to go through the head unit to do that? Also, will the head unit use the existing microphone in the car, or do you have to use a separate one?

Depends.
The SW controls are just pulses on the line connected to the Radio. If the other buttons are on that same line, a SWI will be able to program them.
In theory the buttons can be programmed to ANYHTING that the new HU supports via SWI.
I have my 1-6 button programmed to MUTE.

You'll need a new mic, not a big deal.
SWI and hands free functions depend on which interface you get and what your HU and phone can support.
Call Dennis at DoubleDmods.com and he'll get you what you need
