Default Do I have a blown tweeter or crossover?

Okay, need a little help from the audio gurus here.

About Feb I installed Component speakers and had the system professionally tuned by a local shop. Fast forward to this month, I started hearing in the tweeters a high pitched almost metallic sounding noise from my music. Usually on "S" words.

I tried to troubleshoot on my own, I replaced the offending tweeter with another tweeter of a different brand. I still hear the high pitch noise. Now I am pretty sure both sets of tweeters can't be bad but I am not sure. Don't know the history of the test tweeter I found it in a bunch or car crap from my history of car ownership and replacing parts with different parts.

So, maybe its crossover that is bad? Or maybe the crossover specs don't necessarily jive with the test tweeter...

Where to go from here?

Play with balance to determine if it's one side or both? If only on one side....

Swap crossovers from left to right, if it moves it's the crossover.

If it doesn't, swap tweets left to right, if it moves it's the speaker.

If it doesn't, swap inputs on the amp, if it moves it's the radio.

If it doesn't swap speaker leads at the amp output, if it moves it's the amp.

If it doesn't,

Thanks for the reply Mark.

I did as you suggested, and it turns out to be a bad tweeter.
Glad it wasn't an amp or HU.
