Default How does the factory convert 2channel to multichannel?

FM stereo, your music files, all 2-channel, and my corvette come with 9 speakers, then it must be the factory infotainment unit or the amplifier converting. But which one?

I don't want to replace the infotainment/stereo unit, but i want to have the amp replaced. Then I want to have a 2-channel speaker system but 2 out of 2, instead of having the factory unit simulated into 9 channels, and then only pick 2 front of them

The amp contains band-pass filters that direct specific frequency bands to specific speakers.
I'm not real clear on what you are trying to accomplish. The factory system is not simulating anything. Just directing traffic, really.

The center dash speaker and the rear speakers are combined left and right audio (non-stereo), the door subs are bass only, the other 4 are normal 2-channel stereo but through multiple speakers.
