Default Alpine KTP-445A power pak question

Hi y'all, I'm fairly new to the forum, I recently purchased a low miles 2001 C5 vert and my first DIY project is to replace the stock H/U with something more up to date. I've got this unit on the way from Crutchy:

Alpine CDE-153BT

http://www.crutchfield.com/p_500CDE1...153BT&skipvs=T

I ordered the adapter kits with it to adapt it to the Bose OEM amp system.

While looking at that H/U I noticed an ad for an Alpine "power pak" unit:

KTP-445A
http://www.crutchfield.com/p_500KTP4...ower-Pack.html

There is also a "universal" unit:

KTP-445U
http://alpine-usa.com/product/view/ktp-445u/

I'm thinking I could use one to add some speakers in the trunk, maybe a sub.

My question is, can I still use the Bose OEM amp system with the power pack ? Do I need additional adapaters? If so, which one do I need? Not much info on these questions provided on the Alpine sales stuff.

Thanks for your help!

Just get a normal amp and stealthbox with an amp kit and connect it to your new radio is best way to go.

the "a" has a male and female alpine plugs, not good for an amplified car like your vette

the "u" is a universal with both high and low level inputs. you could use to power a small dvc sub and get 90 watt/coil. Not that much but if you just want a bit low end thump this would work, and it it much cheaper and easier to do if you don't want the hassle of running power wire.

Thanks for the info to all, I'm not looking to set up something you can hear three cars over, I'm mostly just looking to improve the quality of the stock unit. I'm assuming the best way to do that on a budget would be to change out the head, and then replace the stock speakers that are considered marginal with aftermarket units, and then add a subwoofer unit in the trunk, for me, preferably in the corner somewhere. I'm a big fan of JBL/Infinity (altho I've noticed a lot of posts here say a lot of good things about Polk units) so I believe my next move is to research this forum and seen what others have done.

But, back to the subject at hand, if I go with the Alpine "universal" unit, why would it be a better choice than some Boss or other lower priced unit, aren't they all "universal" too?
