$40 back up camera
I want to install a very basic back up camera. I don't want to be recording traffic or anything like that. Just a basic look behind when I go into reverse. Will an E-bay $40 kit suffice?

[QUOTE=Titan C6Z;1593882715]Just bought a 2 for front n rear from Amazon.com. Both under $40 combined. I'll post results n thoughts if I install them before you purchase.
I wanted mine to be simple and stealth. Mine is mounted right in the v of the rear emblem. Gray car. Black camera. Few ever notice it.

Just picked up a Pyle PLCM38FRV camera ($17 on Amazon) to use as a backup camera install on an upcoming HU replacement project on my C6. Too cold for the install now so, for giggles, I hooked the camera up to a 12V power supply and a cheap little LCD TV I have in my basement to test it out.
Comments -- Resolution is not HD, but plenty clear for its intended purpose. Adding/removing on-screen guidelines and reversing image very simple by shorting out three different wires on the pigtail. Nice!
What most impressed me was the light sensitivity of this little camera. Turned off the lights in the room so it would be pitch black without the glow of the little LCD TV. The gain on the camera kicked right up and you could see around the room fine -- Grainy, but fine. Camera is rated to 0.5 lumens sensitivity, and that appears to be plenty!
One other note - The video feedline that connects the camera in the back to the head unit in the front of the car is plenty long. No worries at all about having enough length to reach.
Don't know about durability at this point, for based upon initial performance, this is a great little camera for the money!

I bought this one on EBay for under $10. I mounted it just above the license plate you cant even see it and the view is perfect. Came with the hole saw and everything needed to hook to my head unit. Plus it was easy to tie into the reverse lights for power.

I bought the $20 bullets on Amazon. Work great and even have backup grids. The are the size of a large caliber bullet and mount under the trunk lip barely noticeable!
