Default Backup Camera -- power and ground wires

Do I have to hook up the power and ground for a backup camera to the radio, can I hook it to another power and ground? I have a 2006 Z06, battery is in the trunk, can I do it there?

If you connect the camera directly to the battery, it will run the battery down unless the camera has some type of power switch. What brand/make/model camera do you want to connect?

I ran power and ground for my backup camera to the passenger footwell.
I think I used an add a fuse link, and plugged into the wiper or cruise control fuse. I can turn my camera on when going forward as well. I just ran the reverse wire to the reverse fuse in the footwell.
